WHAT A GLORIOUS BUILD....we almost finished Mr. De's house today. ELECTRICITY, yes, electricity needs to be put into the house as well as WATER. Quite a change from living on a fishing boat. We put two coats of paint on the whole house, installed the SINK, put up the water tank and plumbed it.
We had a DEDICATION and a blessing from the Tiger, a tradition of blessing a new house. 32 homes were built in one week. We gave Mr. De a photo album as we do the Kearney families. It was quite emotional as we know that the house will change a family's life as with all Habitat families.
THANKS for following us. Part of our group is headed home on Saturday and the other part is headed to Halong Bay and then Hanoi.
We have included TWO photo albums, be sure you view both of them than follow this entry.
WE feel God's blessing and realize our lives have been touched and will never be the same......

ALMOST FINISHED
We have the majority of the work completed.....see pics in previous post....we will have a DEDICATION tomorrow at NOON. Not quite done, but guess that's the way they do it here...we are so happy to be here and do this work....the "village" has embraced us and we them. It's been really fun to watch the barriers come down......
We are actually completing two houses even though we are only sponsoring one. Rodger and Kay Payne, Rita Wright and Mike Smith have been working on house 13 as well; so, Kearney, BE PROUD...two families will have "SIMPLE DECENT HOUSES" in which to sleep or as Millard Fuller once said, "...everyone who gets sleepy at night deserves a simple, decent place to lay their heads."
We are SO GRATEFUL to the Kearney Community to allow us to be a part of something MUCH BIGGER than ourselves....
Stay tuned......

TUESDAY !!!
Perhaps the most memorable part of today was celebrating Alice's _5th birthday. We had bought a cake "in town" on Sunday, and ATE it TODAY....You'll see a man on "Tuesday's Pics" with a white hard hat on eating cake....That's DE, our homeowner. Also, we took more pics of the "house boats" and some shots of us working. We almost have two houses completely blocked up and the local men had rendered our front wall.
This evening we had a "Cultural Experience" and another banquet. You'll see some pictures of native singers, dancers and our concierge, Tee Bye.....She is MOST helpful....she even took Tom to get his glasses fixed today......we hope she doesn't wear out....
All for now....might not have time to blog tomorrow as there is a VIP banquet...Jerry and Ken are going to Hanoi to participate in it. KAHFH will meet Jimmy Carter tomorrow and wear our shirts !!!!!
Stay tuned....
